As an Editor for The Scene Magazine, it was my duty to make sure we covered shows that would bring readership to the magazine. That meant that I had to assemble a team of writers and photographers and spread them among venues participating in NXNE, based on public interest.
However, there was no scheduling system in place, and without one we were running a risk of people covering the same shows.
I decided to pair up a writer and photographer, based on their genre expertise, making 5-6 teams. Then, I created a colour-coded Google calendar and shared it with the whole team.
The festival went in the best way possible–everyone was responsive and organized. I knew when to expect the coverage from teams and they knew how to manage their time and effort. The Scene website and social media received a lot of traction!
